Antibacterial study of ZnO and Zn0.5Mg0.5O nanoparticles synthesized by co-precipitation method

In the present study, zinc oxide (ZnO) and magnesium doped (Zn0.5Mg0.5O) nanoparticles were synthesized by simple cost-effective co-precipitation method. The materials characterized X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) with Energy dispersive spectrum (EDAX). Finally, effect of (Mg) doping on structural, morphological anti-bacterial property ZnO was analyzed. From XRD results, it found that there a formation hexagonal structured average crystallite size Zn0.5Mg0.5O calculated to be 71 nm 36 respectively. FTIR analysis confirmed existence possible functional groups in Zn0.5Mg0.5O. There almost spherical shaped particles as evident from FESEM images agglomeration observed upon Mg into ZnO. EDAX spectra prepared provided composition Zn, O Mg, No other elements have been pure materials. Finally study demonstrated effective inhibiting E. coli bacteria.
